Good Morning El

Published March 24, 2015 by vfAith

Good Morning El,

Lord you are amazing. There is nothing you can’t do. You are lovely and miraculous in special ways. Please let’s come closer. I want to learn more about you and your love for me. I want you to be the spotlight of everyday.

This day be at the center of my thoughts. Let the truth of Your goodness gravitate me into You all the more this day. In order to see, hear, and experience more of You, I humble myself before the Might Hand that You have stretched out to protect me. God, You are so precious.

This day help me to forgive, to be slow to speak and slow to anger yet quick to listen and love according to Your word. I love Your word as it is sharper than a 2 edged sword!

Lord let Your sword cut my heart of stone and reveal a heart of flesh, a heart after Your heart. As it works on me, in the same way, let Your word have a powerful effect on the girls that You have put in my life to love and care for.

Father, continue working in the lives of my family. Bring light to the dark places and healing to the broken places.

Thank You, Holy Spirit for this time with You. I love You. In Jesus, name. Amen

Real Life

My real life: this morning I woke up and said “Good Morning Holy Spirit” and He replied “I’ve been waiting for you to wake up.” I asked “Why?” He answered “I want to dance with you.”

1. Today, I interviewed my grandmother for part of a
research paper I’m working on for my psychology class.  When I asked
her to define success in her own words, she said,
“Success is when you look back at your life and the memories make you smile.”

2. Today, I asked my mentor – a very successful business man
in his 70s – what his top three tips are for success.  He
smiled and said, “Read something no one else is reading, think
something no one else is thinking, and do something no one else is doing.”

3. Today, after a 72-hour shift at the fire station, a woman
ran up to me at the grocery store and gave me a hug.   When I
tensed up, she realized I didn’t recognize her.  She let go
with tears of joy in her eyes and the most…

Patience is a Tool

Patience is a tool to bridge the gap between God’s purpose and our desires James 1:2-4. God wants us wanting nothing (also found in Psalms 23)
Seeking has much to do with patience
God’s word of greater is still true. But we have to be patient bc He wants us complete lacking nothing.
As Pastor Leo preached, why do I have to go through this, “oh because if I told you what I had for you, you would not comprehend.” So continue to seek God’s face for the mission, the vision as you have made it plain. Because you endured and kept your eyes seeking even while in the pit, you will better appreciate the palace. God’s ways are not our ways neither His thoughts our thoughts but we are told to seek The Lord while He may be found and call on Him while He is near. What are we seeking? His ways and thoughts because they will not return to Him void. Instead they will have us going out in joy and being lead forth by peace! (Isaiah 55) That is my palace. That is my greater!!

One of the holiday’s best-loved songs, “The Twelve Days of Christmas,” marks the longest holiday in the Christian calendar — the time between Christmas Day and Epiphany, celebrated on January six.

The song’s origin is unknown, but some believe the song was written to help Catholic children remember various articles of faith. These are:

True love

A partridge in a pear tree

Two turtle doves
Old and New Testaments

Three French hens
Faith, Hope, and Charity

Four calling birds
Four Gospels

Five golden rings
The first five books of the Old Testament, the Pentateuch, which records the history and laws of ancient Israel

Six geese a-laying
Six days of Creation

Seven swans a-swimming
Seven gifts of the Holy Spirit, or the Seven Sacraments

Eight maids a-milking
Eight beatitudes

Nine ladies dancing
Nine fruits of the Holy Spirit

Ten lords a-leaping
Ten Commandments

The Key is Inside

Published November 7, 2014 by vfAith

Here it is day 5 of the fast. I have to report of day 4’s events.

I had a craving for a Smoothie King smoothie. I know they are acceptable because they are healthy made from real fruit with high protein all good stuff. (Or I made them acceptable.) Anyhow, God was telling me to not go there but I wanted to go. After talking to my parents, they wanted some as well. So I was about to spend a good $35 in this place.

On my way over, I had a conversation with my mom. Sometimes I just want to get off the phone for a second because I need to gather my thoughts to fulfill the tasks at hand especially when I’m sleepy or even more so HUNGRY. So we finally hung up. I got out of the car with only two things: my money and my phone. Closed the door. Realized I don’t have my key. Went back to the car to find it locked.

I praised my Savior that my cell was in my hand. Called my parents back. Got the number for AAA. Went inside and ordered my smoothies. I had to stay in that place for 45 mins like a weirdo waiting for AAA.

Here was my inside key. While I was waiting I was texting Tati. It was refreshing to talk to her about some nonsense while I felt embarrassed as I stood there waiting for car service. I called my bestie, Janelle at her job, and let her know the situation. She was there for me and told me to text her when I was ok. As soon as I started my car, Nelly called me asking me if I was in my car yet because she was about to get off the job. I told her I just started the car and thanked her greatly for calling back to check on me.

For me in these moments their support and care was soo huge. So then I asked Tati if she was still coming over and she said she was contemplating it. Here is when my fight had to come. The stronghold of insignificance said “see your not important to her”. I stopped that and said “but is that what she said? No she said she was contemplating her coming. If I were not important she would even be contemplating it.” We had this little argument a few times over until the thoughts that would have made me feel small and sever our relationship went away.

Besides she was there with me when I needed her most. Through her God was loving on me in a cool way. I am important. God is glorious. He calls me beloved and means it too. I can fight the good fight and I am because the key is inside, for greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world.

This gift: today

Published September 4, 2014 by vfAith

Good morning,
God, You kept me alive for this day! Wow! Thank You. You are gracious and kind. I can only praise Your name for this goodness You have bestowed. Yet in the same token, it must mean I have something to give or something to receive on this day. Lord I want to give Your love and receive the same. Father, today could be all that I have. You could be preparing for me to meet You sometime this day. I must live fully because YOLO. I must stop my flesh and no even so I must kill my flesh! Can You help me? It might be painful. But my eyes are on the Resurrected One. Yes Jesus, You died and rose again! Lord. Jesus. I am sure that hurt. So if my flesh must die then let it because I know I will rise in Christ with Christ. Let my sacrifice cost me something so it may be why You kept me living for this day. Thank You. 😌

This is the Will of God?!

Published July 11, 2014 by vfAith

Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. (‭I Thessalonians‬ ‭5‬:‭16-18‬ NKJV)

This is the will of God. The will of God is for me to rejoice to be joyful over and over. The will of God is for me to pray unceasingly to always be in communication with my Father. The will of God is for me to give thanks in everything to just be grateful beyond my situation. That seems so simple. God help me to live in Your will. It’s in three parts and seems possible. Can we make this a goal for my 25th year of living to live out this verse: joy, prayer, and gratefulness! Yes, Lord! Thank You, Jesus (it’s starting already).
